There are many reasons to incorporate the ritual of consuming Cacao into your fall routine. A cacao ritual is a beautiful way to connect to the energy of Gaia and plant kingdom
From our friends at Anima Mundi:
Did you know that cacao contains 40x more anti-oxidants than blueberries? It has an amazing ORAC score of 98,000 per 100g, vs blueberries at a mere 2,400. ORAC scores measure the ability of antioxidants to absorb free radicals (that come from pollution and toxins in our environment), which cause cell and tissue damage and can lead to diseases such as cancer.*
Cacao is also loaded with iron and magnesium. Cacao is the highest plant-based source of iron known to man, at a whopping 7.3mg per 100g. This compares to beef at 2.5mg, and spinach at 3.6mg.
Raw cacao is also one of the highest plant-based sources of magnesium, the most deficient mineral in the Western world. Magnesium is important for a healthy heart and helps turn glucose into energy enabling your brain to work with laser-sharp clarity and focus. This might just be the reason your body craves cacao when you're pulling an all-nighter! Last but not least, cacao contains more calcium than regular cow's milk. Cacao has 160mg per 100g vs only 125mg per 100ml of milk.
Cacao is also a great source to help combat depression. Cacao is a great source of four scientifically proven bliss chemicals – serotonin, tryptophan, tyrosine, and phenylethylamine. These neurotransmitters are associated with cozy feelings of wellbeing and happiness and can even alleviate depression.
Looking for delicious and nourishing recipes to use your Cacao?
4 tablespoons ceremonial cacao
1 cup of rose tea (or 1tsp of rose powder) or tulsi tea
1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon of raw honey or maple syrup
A pinch of Himalayan Salt
Instructions
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until creamy. Start on low speed, slowly increasing to high while allowing the intention for your cacao ritual to crystalize.
Want to make cacao without a blender? Combine all ingredients in a pot on low heat, and let the cacao melt while constantly stirring it (don't let it boil).
Pour the cacao in a cup that feels special.
Optionally, add rose petals on top.
Holding it in front of your heart, I invite you to do a little gratitude and intention ritual.

Herb of the Month - Meet Yellow Dock!
Yellow Dock (Rumex Crispus) Yellow Dock belongs to a rather large and friendly family of plants that can be found growing throughout the world. Their name originated from the Greek word "to cleanse." Yellow Dock is a bitter alterative/tonifying herb that has been used historically to gently stimulate the liver and help the body remove wastes. As a result, it is commonly used to promote healthy digestion and to help clear hot inflamed skin conditions such as acne and eczema. Yellow dock contains a high concentration of minerals, trace minerals, and vitamins, and is an excellent lymphatic herb, to address swollen lymph glands. Ready for more Yellow Dock?
Vervain carries Yellow Dock Root as well as Yellow Dock tincture in bulk, and it's an ingredient in these blends as well: Root Brew Liver Tonic Western Red Cedar Soap (Yellow Dock is used for color)
