November Wellness Tips, Store & Class Updates

Updated: Feb 19, 2020

Greetings Friends, Old and New!

It’s been a beautiful and busy couple of months and we are so profoundly grateful for all we have learned from you and from each other along the way. We’ve been honored to offer some amazing classes in the Community Room/Classroom space we share with Roots Zero Waste Market, including a Fire Cider making party, an in-depth discussion of the health benefits of CBD, learning about plant support for Stress & Anxiety and Healthy MenstruationKombucha Making 101, the origin story of Ra*Di*Ant Body Butter, and an Intro to Entomophagy by Kate Stoddard of Orchestra Provisions (you may need to look that up!)

In her class “An Apple a Day…”, Dr. Nicole discussed the benefits of classic Hydrotherapy home treatments to incorporate into your healthy habits. Warming SocksDry Skin Brushing, and Castor Oil Packs are all traditionally used to increase circulation and buoy the immune system, and Vervain can help make it easy for you to incorporate them into your routine!

Upcoming Classes

Additionally, we’ve hosted some great classes that (lucky you!) will be ongoing offerings here at The Vervain Collective:

Qi-Gong with Dr. Jackie Schrempp, NMD, LAc will be offered at least twice a month and will be FREE for the remainder of 2019 while she builds on the basics of this incredible healing and rejuvenating ancient movement meditation technique. *Bring your yoga mat and join us for the next class 12/4 at 5:30!

“The NMD is IN” series continues with Dr. Brandi Solace, NMD, who will be discussing optimal hormone balance and relevant topics such as sleep, weight gain, energy, libido, and menopausal symptoms. The discussion will include testing methods including the DUTCH urine hormone test. *Bring your questions and join us on 12/11 at 5:30!

There was a full house for the first Healthy Approach to Stress and Anxiety class taught by our talented and wise shop steward Lindsay Kolpitke. She’ll continue the series as we endeavor to understand what our bodies go through under consistent stress, and teach you how to incorporate stress-reduction techniques into your daily life. *Leave your worries and cares and join us for a cup of Resting Mind Tea on 12/18 at 6:00!

Cycle Support: Plants & Practical Magic for Healing Menstruation is a non-judgemental and confidential group discussion and discovery series led by reproductive health counselor and wise woman Samantha Zipporah. *Bring your mothers, daughters, and other menstruating friends and join us 12/19 and 1/16 at 5:30!

But wait, there’s MORE! Register online for “Hygge Your Home for the Holidays” with Sloane Marley’s Courtney Feider, “How to Vegan” with Kristen Pound, Flower Essence Discovery with Heather Correa, and a Healthy Sleep Saturday taught by multiple talented and knowledgeable practitioners. Be sure to reserve your spot at our Holiday Making Workshop; bring your creativity and Christmas list and leave with botanically-inspired gifts for your loved ones (or yourself)!

The Science & Art of Herbalism

FINALLY (drumroll, please), we are delighted to announce that we will be offering Rosemary Gladstar’s “The Science & Art of Herbalism” certification course which will be taught by The Vervain Collective’s Dr. Nicole Pierce, Lindsay Kolpitke, and Erika Knipe (with special guest appearances by Samantha Zipporah).

Join us for a 10-month journey exploring herbal medicine that will engage the senses and the intellect while introducing you to a wide range of herbal topics and techniques.  In this small-group setting, we will help you cultivate the confidence to support radiant health and address a myriad of health complaints using herbs. This program is designed to be fun and challenging as it guides students in extensive study – expect to spend about 20-30 hours outside of class hours per month studying and completing the homework assignments (Vervain teachers will grade and submit your homework for official certification).

Interested but not quite sure? Come join us for a Q and A session on Saturday 12/7 at 12:45 to meet the teachers and we’ll help you decide if this particular plunge into your herbal education is right for you!

Classes will meet at the Vervain/Roots community classroom space every third Saturday of the month starting in January.

This course will deepen your understanding of healing herbs and introduce you to a wide range of herbal topics. 5 hours/month of personalized instruction includes:
